"Matisse Moment" is one of a series of paintings done for the upcoming group show "Inspired By...".  This painting is inspired by figurative works of Henri Matisse.  While my style is far different from his, I've incorporated elements that are like some he might have selected. This project pushed me to study more carefully the work and sensibility of someone I might not have chosen on my own. I will have more paintings for this show posted as they are completed.

The show will consist of twelve artists' interpretations of eleven different poses. Each pose is inspired by an admired artist, famous painting, historical person or by well-known literary or theatrical character. The artists, including me, have been working on this project most of this year. "Inspired By..." opens September 7, 2017 at the Padzieski Gallery, Dearborn, Michigan.
